Martin Luther sends 95 theses (points for debate) about the abuse of indulgences* to Archbishop Albrecht of Mainz. It is possible that he also nailed his theses to the door of the Wittenberg church, though there is no firm evidence that he did so. While the theses themselves were not particularly revolutionary, the controversy they started proved to be the beginning of the Reformation. Though Luther and the other Reformers got many things wrong, they were nevertheless mightily used of God to shape our world in ways that we too often take for granted.
