The Eyes of the Lord

Proverbs 15:3
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
These words should penetrate your entire life. If you are an arrogant rebel attempting to conceal your sin from God, these words should humble you. If you are a believer, these words should motivate you to forsake sin, pursue holiness, and to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord.
Consider three vital truths from this verse:
First, the Lord sees everything. The eyes of the Lord are in every place. The eyes of the Lord are in every place because the Lord is everywhere. Nothing can be hidden from His all-seeing eye. He sees everything that happens during the day. He sees everything that happens at night. He sees everything that happens when you are with others. He sees everything that happens when you are alone. You can hide things from others because they do not always see what you do, but you cannot hide anything from God because He always sees what you do. All things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do (Hebrews 4:13).
Second, the Lord sees everything that is evil. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil. Though man foolishly thinks he can hide his evil acts from God, God sees it all. God saw Adam when he rebelled in the garden. God saw Cain when he killed his brother Abel. God saw David when he committed adultery with Bathsheba. Likewise, God sees you when you defy His will and disobey His Word. He sees your selfish desires, your angry outbursts, your lustful looks, and your hypocritical religious acts. He sees the evil you place before your eyes, allow into your ears, and speak with your mouth. Such an awareness of God’s all-seeing eye should cause us to blush. Such an awareness should humble and greatly convict us. Such an awareness should urge us to seek the Lord for forgiveness, grace, and mercy.
Third, the Lord sees everything that is good. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. For those who know Christ, this verse is not only a great warning, but also a great comfort and encouragement. Though we often forget, we must remember that God sees His children when they honor His Word and seek to do those things that are pleasing in His sight. God saw Joseph’s patience and faith when those he loved abandoned him. God saw Hannah’s desire and pure motives when she poured out her soul to the Lord for a son, though others around her called her a drunkard. God saw David’s courageous zeal when he fought Goliath rather than allow the name of his God to be slandered. Likewise, God sees your faithful obedience. God sees your earnest hunger and thirst for Him. God sees your longing desire to grow in your spiritual life and know Christ more fully. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. (Hebrews 6:10).
Questions to Consider:

Can you honestly say that God is pleased by what He sees in your life?
Are you more concerned with what others see than what God sees?
Have you grown weary and discouraged in the work of the Lord forgetting that He sees your steadfastness?

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

May God help us all to remember and live in the light of this penetrating truth every moment of every day.
